Back in 1968 I worked on an IBM machine design package called the VAMFO Film Thickness analyzer. The main component was a "first surface" mirror based on highly polished aluminum. Years later I made a beam splitter for an Arizona Instruments project by polishing 2 adjacent sides of a 1" precision cube of aluminum to create a perfect 90 degree angle corner that could split the light beam into 2 ea. 45 degree beams. The year 2000 found me polishing my Technophonic guitars made of aluminum - I knew how by then. 2025 and I am cleaning up one of them from back then and this just happened with no planning.
