On 30 July, 1966 I was one of thousands of soldiers to enter Vietnam after a 3-1/2 week voyage. This 13 minute video captures the spirit of the trip through my letters home. Today as I deal with incurable bone cancer, I am drawing on the optimism I maintained during my tour of duty. Relationships, music and surfing helped me then as they help me today.
