In an older video, I covered USS John Rodgers. The last of the Fletcher-class destroyers to see service.
Today, we'll be looking at the last of the *Gearing*-class destroyers to see service. In the form of USS Steinaker. Much like the Fletcher before her, this ship finished her life in the Mexican Navy. Unlike Rodgers, however, this lasted until 2014.
Meaning this ship lasted from 1945 to 2014, with only a short break in reserve to break it up. That's no mean feat, even if she didn't have big, notable moments.
