Members Statement: Violet Town, Ian Hamill, and Peter Bailey (10/09/2025)

In this video, I share some wonderful moments and important community updates from across our region.

I recently had the honour of speaking at the Violet Town Community House Women’s Health High Tea, led by the amazing Lisa Jensen.

Surrounded by over 40 inspiring local women, we connected, shared stories, and celebrated the vital role community houses play as the heartbeat of our towns — offering everything from support services to friendship and belonging.

I also take a moment to recognise Senior Constable Ian Hamill, who is retiring after 45 years of dedicated service, including time in Violet Town.

Thank you, Ian, for your commitment to keeping Victorians safe. We’re also working together on a next-of-kin fridge magnet to help first responders quickly reach loved ones in emergencies.

Finally, a big shout-out to Peter Bailey from the Goomalibee and Upotipotpon CFA fire brigade, who recently stepped down after 40 years of service, including 20 as captain.

Peter’s tireless dedication was recognised with the National Emergency Medal for his work during the 2009 bushfires and beyond.

These stories remind me how much strength, kindness, and resilience live in our communities.
