🚁 First Open Cockpit Flight! | Flying the Autogyro MTO Sport 2017
Today I step out of my comfort zone and into the slipstream—literally—as I fly an open cockpit gyroplane for the very first time!
I was expecting a routine flight in the Cavalon, but with all the closed-cockpit gyros unavailable, I ended up in this: the Autogyro MTO Sport 2017, powered by a Rotax 912 ULS with a big-bore kit.

In this video, I share my candid impressions of:
🛫 Taking off with less power than I’m used to
😱 The surreal (and slightly scary) sensation of looking straight down
🌬️ Managing wind, visibility, and traffic spotting without a canopy
🛬 How the centerline seating makes landing surprisingly intuitive
🤯 And how I went from nervous to completely hooked on open-cockpit flying
