When water levels are low here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. Know Your Draft - Draft is the vertical distance between the waterline and the bottom of your boat. Some boats have a draft with their drive down and with their drive up. Knowing this number will let you know how deep the water must be so you can boat safely. Keep in mind that when you enter shallow water you may need to raise your outdrive (if possible). With the drive up you'll have slightly less maneuverability and your RPMs will be higher. You should only drop your outdrive again when you approach deeper water.
2. Docking - When docking be sure to plan your approach and exit from the dock strategically. For instance, when exiting the dock it may make more sense to back into deeper water before turning your boat around.
3. Keep Your Distance - It's always a good idea to keep your distance from land and markers, but this is even more important when water levels are low. Lower levels will expose more obstructions under the water making it more hazardous to boat.
Be sure to keep an eye on your depth gauge and have fun out there!
