This new audiobook reading series dives into "The Steam Locomotive: A Century of North American Classics" by Jim Boyd (the late editor of "Railfan & Railroad" magazine).

The book chronicles the history of steam locomotion in America, from the "John Bull" to the "Big Boy" and everything in between!

Chapter 1 - "The Early Americans" - looks at the beginnings of railways in America, with British import locomotives paving the way for such foundational designs as the 4-4-0 "American Standard", ending just before the turn of the 20th century.
