Cyberpunk, Neuromancer, William Gibson & Timothy Leary

The first part of this video is the beginning of Cyberpunk: The Documentary is a 1990 documentary that explores the world that William Gibson invented with his book Neuromancer.

CYBERPUNK is Marianne Trench's stylistic documentary about the cyberpunk movement of the 1980s. William Gibson, the author of cyberpunk classic Neuromancer, shares his thoughts on the future of society and technology.

While looking a bit dated now, this film provides an interesting insight into the cyberpunk movement of the 80's. The feeling at the time was there was some overlap between this new technical age we were entering vs the counter culture of the 1960s.

The second part of this video is Neuromancer Movie That Never Was, with William Gibson & Timothy Leary.

Before this 2017 Neuromancer film adaptation announcement, before the various attempts in the mid and late 90s, there was this obscure independent adaptation -- as ill-fated as the rest, unfortunately. It is too bad, seeing who is backing it; they obviously are tapping into the young Gibson's occult side, which has been massively underrepresented.

Amusingly, if you look at the background in the Tim Leary shots, he is playing Mind Mirror on that old IBM.
