Just before 2:00 AM on June 8, 2025, Arkansas State Police Trooper Steven Plyler was dispatched to assist the Wynne Police Department in an active pursuit. The suspect had taken off from a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 64, speeding south onto State Highway 350.

As the chase twisted onto Highway 284, Trooper Plyler took over as the secondary unit, tracking the suspect’s movements as he turned onto Park Drive. The SUV continued to flee onto West Park Avenue, only to meet a dead end and circle back.

Anticipating this, Trooper Plyler maneuvered his patrol car to intercept the return path—and that’s exactly what happened.

When the SUV approached the intersection again, the trooper blocked the road, preventing further escape. What followed next unfolded quickly: the vehicle was found abandoned, and officers pursued the suspect on foot through a nearby wood line.
