The Legion Bridge is the seventh bridge on the Vltava in Prague. It stands on the site of the original chain bridge named after Emperor Francis I. It joins Shooter's Island and the Lesser Quarter. On the initiative of the entrepreneur Vojtěch Lanna, it was built between 1898 and 1901 by the architect and engineer Anthony Balšánek and Jiří Soukup. In 1901 it was opened in the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph I, after whom it carried its first name. After World War I, it was given its current name – the Legion Bridge. During World War II, the occupation was renamed again after Bedřich Smetana. In 1960, the Velvet Revolution was called the First of May Bridge. The bridge was built in the architectural style of neo Art Nouveau.

Masarykovo nábřeží is the name of the embankment on the right bank of the Vltava opposite Slovanské ostrov (Žofín) in Prague. It is bounded by the Jiráské bridge and the square, and the Legion bridge with Národní třída. It was named after the first Czechoslovak president in 1990. Although this section offers excellent city views, the heavy traffic of cars and trams and the cramped conditions make this section less pleasant. Until the 19th century, this embankment was unregulated; several mills and tanners worked here. Part of the embankment along Žofín was completed in 1903 and, together with today's Smetana embankment (Masarykov embankment during the First Republic), was called Františkovo nábřeží. From 1912, this part was called Riegrovo nábřeží (except the period 1940–1942, when it was part of the Vltava embankment, and the years 1942–1945, when the entire Vltava embankment was renamed, Reinhard Heydrich Ufer). For 1945–1948, this embankment was still Riegro's, but already from 1948 Gottwald's embankment, after the recent successor of the late Dr. Edvard Beneš as president of Czechoslovakia. In 1952, the part around the National Theater was connected to the embankment, which in the years 1886-1952 was called Tylovo nábřeží and during the Second World War Nábřežní ulice hórejší. In 1990, the entire embankment was renamed Masarykovo.

The Dancing House (Tančící dům), or Fred and Ginger, is the nickname given to the building on the Rašínovo nábřeží (Rašín Embankment) in Prague, Czech Republic. House was designed by the Croatian-Czech architect Vlado Milunić in cooperation with Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry on a vacant riverfront plot. The construction was completed in 1996. Gehry originally called the house Fred and Ginger (after the dancers Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers – the house resembles a pair of dancers), but this nickname is rarely used. Gehry later discarded his idea, as he was "afraid to import American Hollywood kitsch to Prague."
