Bach composed unaccompanied cello suites between 1717-1723 in Köthen, Germany. These most interpreted and known “cello works”, consist of 6 suites. (BWV1007, BWV1008, BWV1009, BWV1010, BWV1011, BWV1012)

Solo (unaccompanied) suites consist of six movements/parts: prelude, allemande, courante, sarabande, minuets or bourrées or gavottes, gigue

Each suite starts with prelude and all the other movements are based on baroque dance types.
