"Real Parts" is a term used within the Film Prop Collecting Community to describe a prop replica or parts used to make a prop replica that are the exact same as used by the prop department of a particular film or series. This is often a difficult and expensive type of hobby as the parts in question are often rare or entirely unavailable. Even more often they tend to be apart of a piece of equipment or model that is in itself valued by another genre of collecting.

Recreating props from their original parts is one of my favorite things, as it allows me to not only explore the process of the build, but to get a glimpse into the imagination that went into its development.
