Former Israeli hostage Ohad Ben Ami hopes for peace after returning home

Former Israeli hostage Ohad Ben Ami, who was kidnapped from his home in Kibbutz Beersheba in a bloody Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, has now returned to his destroyed home.
Standing among the destroyed walls and quiet streets, Ohad Ben Ami said he hopes that a new ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement brokered by US President Donald Trump will finally end the long and terrible war.

Kibbutz Beersheba is where dozens of civilians were killed in the October 7 incident. Ben Ami says peace requires both sides to “return to humanity” and a solution in which both Israelis and Palestinians can live in safety.

This statement comes at a time when talks on a new ceasefire between Israel and Hamas are progressing rapidly, and the agreement is being hailed as a ray of hope globally.
