On April 26, 1986, disaster struck when Reactor 4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant exploded during a late-night safety test. The explosion released 400 times more radiation than the Hiroshima bomb, contaminating over 2,600 square kilometers of land across Ukraine, Belarus, and beyond. The official death toll is still debated, but estimates suggest thousands have died from radiation exposure in the years that followed.

This video was shot in 2020, a few weeks before the Covid lockdown and 2 years before Russia invaded Ukraine and for a brief time captured Chernobyl and the surrounding areas.
