Five years ago, U.S. Marine Ed Schrank inspired WGN viewers with his story of resilience. He was exposed to toxic jet fuel while on active duty. The exposure led to cancer. He had his eye and parts of his skull removed. Before he lost his voice, he had one wish: to sing the national anthem at a Major League Baseball game.
“He was an absolutely relentless person,” said Chris Schrank, Ed’s older brother.
WGN's Mike Lowe reports on the story.
