PBIP or PBIX? - Ep.469 - Power BI tips

Context: With the introduction of the new Power BI Desktop Project (PBIP) format, how much is this going to take away from the default PBIX? While PBIX is binary, PBIP is meant for git and allows for TMDL and source control.
However, is PBIP too heavy developer only, or should all reports migrate to PBIP? Even professionals not in GIT know the frustration of trying to do source control or version control with PBIX, but if PBIP too far?
