I've never owned a clean copy of Mal/2 by Mal Waldron, so I was excited when it was added to the release schedule of Craft Recordings' Original Jazz Classics series. This title is just so obscure and so difficult to find, that I had to pull the trigger. The lineup includes John Coltrane, Jackie McLean, Sahib Shihab, Julian Euell, Art Taylor, Bill Hardman, Idrees Sulieman, and Ed Thigpen. Anyway, these are my thoughts.
