🎬 Dinosaur Expedition! Northern Colorado IMRG's Saddle Up & See Dinosaurs Road Trip to Vernal, Utah | Day 1

Gear up for the ultimate motorcycle road trip with the Northern Colorado Indian Motorcycle Riders Group (IMRG)! Join us for Day 1 of our epic "Saddle Up & See Dinosaurs" excursion as we conquer 310 miles from Northern Colorado to the heart of dinosaur country in Vernal, Utah.

🛣️ The Ride: Mountain Passes to High Desert Plains
We kick off the journey at the familiar Ted's Place in LaPorte, CO, with an immediate immersion into the legendary Poudre Canyon.

Poudre Canyon Bliss: Enjoy the perfect symphony of mountain freedom—rushing Poudre River water, twisting roads through canyon walls, and cool, pine-scented air. A quick nod to the historic Baldwin Tunnel (completed 1916!) and the beauty of the Cache la Poudre River.

Cameron Pass: An essential stop at the rest area for spectacular views of the Never Summer and Medicine Bow Mountains before our descent to Walden.

Across North Park: A relatively flat and straight ride across the intermountain basin to Walden, where we have our first "dinosaur encounter" while fueling up at the Sinclair!

Rabbit Ears Pass: An exhilarating and highly scenic cruise with sweeping curves and open mountain roads—a motorcycle rider's delight.

Pushing West: We roll through the busy town of Steamboat Springs and pick up speed as the terrain transitions to open grazing and agricultural land, passing the historic Hayden Power Plant.

Lunch in Craig: We unexpectedly arrive at the start of the yearly county fair and enjoy a lively lunch at Yampa Valley Brewing before pressing on!

Dinosaur Sightings: A fun stop at the tiny towns of Maybell (population 76!) and Dinosaur, CO, where we cruise past the whimsically-named streets (Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus!) and enjoy multiple dinosaur statues.

🦖 Vernal Arrival
The final leg takes us through classic high-desert landscape—flat, straight, open, and remote—until the official greeting from the large pink dinosaur marking our arrival in Vernal! Day one wraps up with checking into the hotel, a much-needed dip in the pool, and a delicious dinner at Lemongrass Thai restaurant.
