What worship pastors should know about using copyrighted songs in church

Because the worship songs we use in our Sunday morning gatherings are typically written (and owned) by someone else, there are copyright laws to consider when we display lyrics on the screen or livestream the service to Facebook or want to perform the song outside of a typical Sunday morning worship service. CCLI covers many of the basic needs worship ministries have, but it’s good to have a basic understanding of what you can (and can’t) do with someone’s intellectual property.
