Mi Ru... One of the most interesting monsters ever created in the series. While I do understand the concerns of some fans of the series when it comes to the Frontier monsters (mainly the fact that they were created actually as "bosses" rather than monsters with actual speculative ecology in them), I still find Mi Ru to be so fascinating.
Mi Ru is a fox looking pseudo-wyvern monster that has the curious ability to shapeshift. It can change the morphology of its body into many different forms as a defense mechanism, allowing it to deal with different threats and predators by changing the way it fights.
I don't know any of the official names, if there are, of its different forms, so I'll cover them with my own names and in the order they show up in this video.
Base form: Mi Ru's base form as seen on the thumbnail. It's basic physical brawler with a mix of Dyuragaua, Tigrex and Nargacuga moveset, with a lot of slow physical moves and maybe a single fire projectile or rock throw if you go too far from it.
Speed form: This one is obviously all about speed. It's one of Mi Ru's most annoying forms, it's actually really fast, without any compromises on the damage it deals. It does a lot of fast maneuvers and basically all its moves are full-body hitboxes, making it really annoying to deal with. It also has a lightning-speed crystal explosion attack that I didn't let it do in this run because I got a head stagger on it as it transformed.
Bulk Up form: ...or Mr. Grabby hands as I like to call it. This one likes smashing the earth, throwing giant boulders and more importantly, it loves trying to pin you. Mi Ru's pin is pretty much a guaranteed cart if you don't have your entire team healing you during the animation or if you don't have any protection items or effects on you. It's at least really really slow and predictable.
Demon form: The fire-breathing focused one. It focuses a lot on ranged attacks, long fire breaths, close ones, jumping ones, sliding ones... It's got it all. Still has a few physical moves here and there but this is the one that's built to deal with you from further away.
Crystal form: This one is the closest to his base form but a little bigger. This one focuses more on crystal attacks that inflict you with the Crystallisation status, probably the worst status in Frontier outside of Zenith Blights. Crystallisation reduces your stamina bar to its lowest, prevents you from sprinting, dodging, and crystals on you will explode and deal considerable damage if you don't shake them off quickly enough.
And lastly, the ultimate form. If all forms can't deal with the threat, then Mi Ru transforms into this one in a last ditch effort. This form combines the abilities of all the aforementioned forms, alongside a few new attacks as well.
The reason why I took an entire week trying to get this run was because I gave myself a stupid amount of restrictions. I wanted this to be the perfect video, the perfect showcase of Mi Ru. I was genuinely obsessed by this monster, like a love/hate relationship. I fucking hate all the jank and instantaneous moves it has that are leftovers from the likes of Tigrex or Pariapuria. But at the same time I love all the rest and this fight in general.
I didn't want to get hit a single time, I wanted Mi Ru to showcase enough of its moveset, I wanted a time below 6:30 at least, I wanted to be perfect with my camera play... I could go on.
In the end this took me maybe 300 or more tries, but it was worth it. Regardless of how this video does, I had incredible fun (and rage) trying to get it.
