Justice League Task Force is a competitive fighting game from 1995, in which heroes and villains from DC Comics battle it out with each other. It was released on both the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and the SEGA Genesis. Separate teams worked on each version of the game, meaning it is a substantially different experience between the two consoles. In a sense, this versus fighting game also puts SEGA head-to-head with Nintendo, to see which company's gaming system had the best version of the game.

Other videos have already conducted a general comparison of graphics, sound and gameplay to address the everlasting SEGA vs. Nintendo debate. This video juxtaposes the throwing and grappling animations of all the characters.

It turns out that there are significant differences in the grab moves that can be performed in each game. Some of the ideas for moves are similar between versions, but they use different animations. There are also some completely unique grab moves in each version which do not correspond to those of the other console. I noticed that both games re-use certain techniques between characters, such as the Tomoe Nage throw, or the backbreaker.

Both versions of the game give you two grab moves per character. The moves are performed in a similar way to Street Fighter throws, which is by pressing the direction towards your opponent at the same time as a punch or kick button. Due to the poor controls in both versions of the game, it is likely that you will strike your opponent by accident instead of performing the throw. A crucial difference between the two games is that the Genesis version requires you to stun your opponent before the [Forward + Punch] throw can be performed.

Overall I prefer the SNES version of the game, as it has more interesting throw moves. Some of the grab moves in the Genesis version, particularly the ones for stunned opponents, are highly lackluster. There are instances were a strike or combo is performed without any grappling involved. The SNES version of the game is also higher quality in general, when it comes to visuals, audio aspects and the feel of the game.
