Hi there! Welcome to episode 30 of The Paint Show!!!

This is a celebration, and what better way to celebrate than to cover a paint I've been using for SO LONG, and SO EXTENSIVELY - BURNT SIENNA (Daniel Smith).

Somehow this paint slipped under The Paint Show's radar, and I'm happy to finally cover it 😁

🎨BURNT SIENNA / DANIEL SMITH 🎨

I've been using Daniel Smith's Burnt Sienna for SO LONG, and it's been a long time favourite of mine!

I mainly use it to produce WARM dark shadows.
As many others, I too love to combine it with French Ultramarine to create interesting plays of warm and cool shadows.

Over the years (yes, 2 years haha!) I learned this color also works exceptionally well with Quinacridone Rose and a variety of Yellows.

It can also be used as a part of a Velasquez palette.

Pigment - PBr7 (some use oranges and reds, Daniel Smith use a more brown pigment, Brown Iron Oxide)
Excellent lightfastness
Semi-transparent
Granulating
Non-staining

🎨CONCLUSION 🎨

I love this paint and it's been a true staple of mine! I highly recommend you give it a go if you still haven't.

This is a good "introductory" color to Daniel Smith paints (alongside Quinacridone Rose, French Ultramarine, Phthalo Blue, Hansa Yellow Medium and Perylene Red).
