In this video, I demonstrate a system that can be used to route trains through a network of branches connected by junctions. By setting the locomotive's tag, it is possible to have independently operating junctions, each controlled by its own computer. Together with a pathfinding algorithm to find the shortest path between two stations in the network, this system can be used to automatically send a train between any two stations as efficiently as possible.
Having complete control over the train's speed is still not 100% possible, so a player is still needed to set the throttle of the train, but aside from that, every other aspect can be automated.
