Charles Rader established Rader Novelty Works in 1903 in El Paso, Texas. He advertised the business as a well equipped machine shop specializing in model making and "perfecting models". He later added automotive cylinder and crankshaft grinding and was said to have serviced some of the first automobiles in the region. He also was said to have had a "keen love for more intricate mechanical work". It is not known if his hot air engines went into serial production, but this "No. 2" implies that more than one size or type was produced. Bore is 2 inches (51 mm) and flywheel is 11 inches (279 mm).
