Just an hour and a half from Tokyo is Lake Hamana or Hamanako, Japan's biggest brackish lake. This lake is popular for marine activities including a thrilling parasailing ride, stand-up paddling and kayaking around Bentenjima at sunset. Place your bets on the high-speed Hamanako Boat Race at Bentenjima. Enjoy fresh seafood like the mineral-rich Hamanako oysters which you can only get in this region, deep-friend tendon bowls and grilled unagi (eel). You can even catch your own seafood on takiya-ryo spearfishing excursion. Stroll around and soak in the local culture at Kanzanji Onsen which has a beautiful temple and of course, onsen (hot spring) baths overlooking the lake. The best way to get here is by taking the shinkansen bullet train on the Tokaido Shinkansen Line to Hamamatsu Station. There is a local bus or train to Lake Hamana.
