(TYPHOON H) First Flight - 12 Dec 2016

So, already owning a Q500 and a Breeze I figured I had enough multi rotor platforms for one person!!! How wrong I was!!! I was at London Drugs getting my iPhone fixed when I noticed they were selling the Yuneec Typhoon H drone for $999CAD (Non intel version). With the exchange rates the way they were that was about $750USD. Hmmm, I thought, for about a millisecond and drove to Best Buy and bought one for the same price. Today I broke it out of the box and flew it without making any changes to the default settings. Holy f**k.....this thing is crazy good. I took off from my back yard in south Ladysmith. Elevation at take off was 260 ft/asl. Maximum flying altitude for this flight was 392 ft (limited to 400ft in software) above my back yard so total was 652 ft/asl. I recorded the video at 4K and down converted to 1080 for youtube upload. The video is simply spectacular. We had two days of snow before the weather broke and then we got some sun. As you can see, the view is epic. The ST16 ground station is off the chart. You can plug in a VR headset into the HDMI port on the ground station for a totally immersive experience. It's so well built and Yuneec don't leave anything out of the box. It even comes with a memory card for the camera. Granted it's only 16gb but it's more than enough to capture a full flight in 4K. Total flight time from full battery to low battery warning was about 18 minutes. Accent rate was super fast. The thing went up like a rocket, way faster than my Q500 but that may have been my rate setting on my ST10. The other features of the 'H' are the 360 degree camera pan and retractable landing gear. It also has ultrasonic obstacle avoidance which I tested by trying to fly into the side of my house. It worked. The video down link was rock solid. I can't say enough good things about Yuneec and their products. Keep up the good work. H920 on the horizon I think!!!! And yes, I will start adding some audio when time permits.
