Joseph Campbell POWER OF MYTH ► Mythology, Hero's Journey, Monomyth, & Follow Your Bliss

A quick summary of Joseph Campbell's mythology studies. We touch on the hero's journey from The Hero With a Thousand Faces, also known as the monomyth. On comparative religious studies we cover a quote from Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and also mention Campbell's favorite mantra from the Hindu Upanishads, "follow your bliss."

You might wonder why I recommend reading The Power of Myth over his magnum opus, The Hero with a Thousand Faces. THWATF is definitely worth reading, but my oh my I found it difficult. Power of Myth is much more digestible as a back-and-forth conversation. His interviewer, former White House Press Secretary Bill Moyers, more than holds his own too.
