This is the 2nd and most famous video recorded interrogation of Brendan Dassey, which took place on March 1, 2006. He is being questioned regarding the murder of 25-year-old Teresa Halbach, which took place on or around October 31, 2005.
Teresa worked for Auto Trader, and visited Steven Avery's salvage yard to take pictures of a vehicle, and was apparently never seen again...

While the details of Teresa Halbach's death are widely unknown, Brendan does detail his role (whether coerced or not) multiple times in several interrogations.

Timeline of the case after conviction:
Brendan Dassey was convicted in 2007 for the murder of Teresa Halbach...
On August 12, 2016, U.S. Magistrate Judge overturned Dassey's conviction, citing a coerced confession and ordering his release if not retried.
November 16, 2016: The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals blocks Dassey's release.
June 22, 2017: A three-judge panel of the Seventh Circuit upholds the ruling that the confession was improperly obtained.
December 8, 2017: The full Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, in an en banc review, votes 4-3 to reinstate Dassey's conviction, determining the confession was voluntary.
February 20, 2018: Dassey's legal team petitions the U.S. Supreme Court to review the case.
June 25, 2018: The U.S. Supreme Court declines to hear the appeal.
October 2019: A clemency request is filed with the Governor of Wisconsin but is denied.
As of 2026, Brendan Dassey remains incarcerated at Oshkosh Correctional Institution.
