8 Years in the Making: David Gray's 4,000HP Nova Comes to Life | FuelTech USA

What started as an original steel 1971 Nova, has become 4,000HP Twin Turbo Hemi ready to race some of the fastest cars in PRO275 .

After eight years of hard work, David Gray’s dream build finally came to life here at the FuelTech USA Hub Dyno — a moment that couldn’t have happened without years of dedication from some amazing people.

The transformation was brought to life by the talented team at DMC Racing, who took the original Nova and built it into a complete tubed chassis drag car, and Abdullah from ProWire, who wired every detail to integrate seamlessly with the full lineup of FuelTech products.

At the heart of this build is a Proline 548ci MH4 Hemi paired with Precision 94mm Gen 2 turbos, all managed by the FuelTech FT600 ECU, FTSpark-8, Peak & Hold PRO, CDI Racing Ignition Coils, EGT-4 CAN, Input Expander, and Alcohol O2. This combination delivers unmatched control, reliability, and performance for high-horsepower racing applications.

On the dyno, the Nova put down an incredible 3,909HP to the hub, with even more potential still left on the table. With a few small adjustments, David’s 4,000HP goal is well within reach.
