If you had told me 30 years ago that I would fall in love with Japanese food and culture I may have not believed you. LOL. A small town girl, born and raised on the prairies, has been so fortunate to be introduced to all things Japanese thanks to our son having lived there for nearly 4 years now.
Though I don't recall eating this exact salad there, I have made this a half dozen times and have no regrets.
This salad is a blank cavas for flavours so I'll give you how I make it with the basic ingredients.
2-3 cups roughly chopped cabbage
1-2 cloves garlic, minced fine
2 T sesame oil
2 T soy sauce
sprinkle sesame seeds
salt and pepper
Put all ingredients into a container with a lid and shake. Serve fresh with bbq meat or whatever suits your fancy. Eat within a couple of days. Sometimes I add more cabbage to use up the sauce that is in the container. Yum!
