Known for her virtuosic performances and compositions that mix elements of jazz and Dixieland, clarinetist Doreen Ketchens began her career as a street musician in New Orleans, alongside her husband Lawrence, in 1987. Her meteoric rise through the decades has brought her and her band, Doreen’s Jazz New Orleans, international acclaim, with Doreen becoming a cultural emissary for the intersecting music scenes of New Orleans, jazz, and Dixieland. Sweetwater had the honor of hosting Doreen “Lady Louis” herself to talk all things artistry, innovation, her relationship with Royal Global, and the future of jazz. Check it out!
