This is a postwar (42-47) Ford truck modified after it left the factory with a Marmon Herrington all wheel drive conversion. Marmon Herrington began manufacturing 4x4 trucks (many based on Fords) starting in 1941 and built many prewar all wheel drive vehicles for the US military. This truck started it's life as a uranium drilling truck in Colorado, lowered by a winch down it steep canyons. It found it's way to central KS, where the Sower family (thanks to Don and Leon) moved the front mounted winch to the back and built their own gin poles. It was used for farm building projects until they parked it 30 years ago. Also at the sale was a running 48 F4. The winch truck brought $700 with a stuck engine, the F4 sold for almost $2500.
