This week on Bankole’s Nation, journalist Bankole Thompson interviews Robin Kinloch, the first lady of Triumph Church about her husband Rev. Solomon Kinloch Jr.’s campaign to become the next mayor of Detroit.
Robin Kinloch, who holds a law degree, in her first media interview about the 2025 Detroit mayor’s race discusses her upbringing in Detroit including how she and her sibling navigated the dangerous circumstances of poverty and inequality. She opens up about being raised in what she calls the Warren-Connor projects on the city’s eastside, where she encountered poverty first hand and how that has left a lasting experience with her to give voice to those who are struggling in the dungeons of inequality.
She touched on the most recent U.S. Census report which places Detroit as having the highest poverty rate in the nation for cities with a half a million people or more. She also discusses issues she will champion as first lady of the city of Detroit while making the case for why Rev. Kinloch is the right candidate to become the next leader of the city.
