On the second year of the photo-video course at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, the final video assignment was to create a video essay.
I used my favourite videogame, DayZ, as an artistic medium, asking players whether or not they think videogames are art (amongst other questions). The beautiful diversity shown not only in their answers, but also in the way the players move their characters in-game can almost make us forget these conversations are happening through a screen.
Growing up with videogames all my life, and still keeping them as an important part of it, it only feels natural for me to raise the discussion of "videogames as an art form".
