매헌시민의숲(Maeheon Citizen's Forest), 전철로 가는 서울서초 힐링여행(A healing trip to Seocho, Seoul by subway)

매헌시민의숲은 우리나라 최초로 숲 개념을 도입한 공원으로 도심에서 보기 힘든 울창한 숲을 이루고 있는 공원입니다. 86아시안 게임과 88올림픽을 앞두고 당시 서울의 관문이었던 양재 톨게이트 주변 환경을 개선하고자 1986년에 공원으로 조성되었습니다.

매헌로를 기준으로 북측 구역에는 매헌윤봉길의사기념관, 바닥분수, 어린이놀이터 등이 있으며 사계절 풍경이 아름다워 공원을 산책하는 시민들에게 사랑받는 공간입니다.

남측 구역에는 유격 백마부대 충혼탑과 1987년 미얀마 안다만해협 상공에서 북한의 테러로 폭파된 대한항공 858편의 위령탑, 1995년 삼풍백화점 붕괴로 사망한 희생자와 유족들을 위로하기 위해 세운 위령탑, 우면산 산사태 희생자 추모비 등이 있습니다.

특히 최근 오랜 기간동안 도로공사를 하며 불편을 겪었던 양재천 둔치에 "양재천 수영장" 이 개장하여 운영중에 있으니 여름철 어린이의 천국이 될 것으로 확신합니다.

Maeheon Citizen's Forest is the first park in Korea to introduce the concept of a forest, and is a park with a dense forest that is hard to find in the city. It was established as a park in 1986 to improve the environment around Yangjae Tollgate, which was the gateway to Seoul at the time, ahead of the 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Olympics.

The northern section of Maeheon-ro includes the Maeheon Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall, a fountain, and a children's playground, and the park is a beloved space for citizens who walk around the park because of its beautiful scenery in all four seasons.

The southern section includes the White Horse Unit Memorial Tower, the Korean Air Flight 858 Memorial Tower that was blown up by North Korea in 1987 over the Andaman Strait in Myanmar, the Memorial Tower erected to comfort the victims and their families who died in the collapse of the Sampoong Department Store in 1995, and the Umyeon Mountain Landslide Victims Memorial Monument.

In particular, the "Yangjaecheon Swimming Pool" has opened and is currently in operation on the Yangjaecheon Riverbank, which has been inconvenient due to road construction for a long time, so I am sure it will be a paradise for children in the summer.
