In the early 1980s, Modest Proposal helped launch Washington, D.C.'s mod and ska scene. Singer-songwriter Neal Augenstein and guitarist-songwriter Bill Crandall enlisted bassist David T. and drummer Curtis Paul. Soon after, Perry Flint, formerly of DC's first mod band, Count 4, replaced David T., and Bob Minard took over for Paul. "I've Seen Your Face Before" and "Nobody Says No" was the first single released by MP, on their own One Dimension Records. The band played its final show in 1986, at London's 100 Club, shortly before releasing its compilation album, Singleminded.
