What if your favorite game… was funded by the government? From military recruitment to full-blown propaganda, Dagger uncovers the insane world of government-funded video games — and it's weirder (and funnier) than you'd ever expect.
In the modern Age, anything can become propaganda. Whether it be Movies, music or even Cereal, nothing is safe from this trend, and Gaming is no different. Video Games funded by the Government, it's a strange concept right? Well in this video Dagger dives deep into the rabit-hole of government video games.
Dagger's first stop on the tour is to the nation of china, where many concerning video games we're funded by their government. From the Hilarious "Laden Vs USA" to the dystopian "Glorious Mission" many hilarious Government games showed up. But to test the games out Dagger Called in a favor from his best friend to test the propaganda first hand which ended in him convulsing on the ground speaking Chinese.
The next nation on the world tour was none other than the USA, which had the highest number of government funded games by a long shot. As if preparing for world war III the USA had funded serval video games for two purposes: the first of which being recruitment. Games like "America's Army" we're open recruitment efforts catered towards the youth of America. The Second purpose of these games was for a different angle: Training. Dagger found out first hand that many of the games were built as training simulators for soldiers, some of which being unlocked by a cheat code.
The third stop was to the Region of Iran, which much to Dagger's Dismay became the subject of a conflict well after shoot. Iran Had funded a video game that was intended to demonize America called "Special Operation 85" A fascinating piece of history in the world of Government funded gaming. The Game followed an Iranian soldier as he went to rescue Iranian nuclear scientists, however after a long escapade of trying to find a copy of the Game Dagger realized the game was among the worst ever produced having an unheard of amount of glitches and issues.
Dagger's Next Stop was the nation of Russia and the game they funded in 2024 called "Smuta" or "the time of troubles" a game based in a historical era to boost nationalism. After a quick history lesson on the many "False Dmitri's" Dagger played the final Government funded video game and tears into it once again for it's blatant propaganda and themes.
Our tour wraps up when Dagger discovered and Ancient Chinese board game dating back to the Vietnam War, however the game exclusive needed to be played by Chinese speakers. So Dagger found a way to translate all the text to English and print a high quality copy of the board game and bring it back from the dead and play it for the first time in decades.
