Billed as 'Dalglish v Keegan', an unwell Keegan didn't make his Newcastle sides FA Cup 5th Round trip to Blackburn's Ewood Park.
Newcastle, who were runaway leaders of the 'New' First Division were backed by a near 5000 fans in an uncovered Darwen End - the first game to have fans in there without the fabric on the roof.
Blackburn had spent heavily during Dalglish's tenure but were to be without record signing Alan Shearer against his home town club.
