This is an oscilloscope deconstruction of Fighters' Soul (ファイターズソウル) from Rockman.EXE 4.5 Real Operation.
Composer: Akari Kaida
Notes:
The final boss battle theme.
This song's Japanese name could be rendered as "Fighter's Soul" or "Fighters' Soul", and I'm not sure which is more correct here.
I love this theme. It might be the best final boss theme in my opinion, just for how much emotion it conveys.
I especially like 7:08-7:14, where square 1 and square 2's frantic pace communicates a feeling of panic. In the same sequence, PCM 1 plays a sample that was originally used in BN1's VS. Lifevirus, which is an interesting connection. The harsh sound of this sample only adds to the emotions of fear and uncertainty that this song evokes.
Similar to Tournament Battle from this game, the backbone of Fighters' Soul is the bassline in wave pattern, which plays a repeating phrase at varying pitches. This time, wave pattern plays mostly 25% pulse waves, which I think gives it a sharper sound which makes it more audible through the other channels. Overall this is an excellent song that I've really enjoyed deconstructing and listening to.
What do you think of this deconstruction? Let me know in the comments.
