This webinar explores how computational design can be made instantly tangible and memorable for students through the lens of food design. Architect and Authorized Rhino Trainer Jose Carrillo shares a classroom-tested framework that blends architecture, gastronomy, and digital fabrication to teach Rhino 8 + Grasshopper with clarity, engagement, and industry collaboration. The session features edible Grasshopper live demos, concise teaching methods, standout student projects, awards, and adaptable case studies. Jose also opens his research and professional pipelines, demonstrating how computational design bridges architecture, gastronomy, AI, and art to produce fabricable, edible, and publishable results.
Speaker: Jose Carrillo is an architect, educator, and Ph.D. researcher in computational food design. He investigates how AI, biomaterials, and digital fabrication can transform the way we see, taste, and construct. An Authorized Rhino Trainer and associate professor at the American University in Dubai since 2015, he founded @archEatable to teach Rhino + Grasshopper across architecture, art, and culinary practice. Jose mentors architects, artists, and chefs in workflows that move seamlessly from screen to fabrication to plate. His work has been exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale, Art Dubai, and the Sikka Art & Design Festival.
