RED ALERT! Red Arrows are DISAPPEARING in 2030!

'They're the iconic jets that dazzle crowds with their breathtaking air acrobatics.

But the Red Arrows are in serious danger of being hibernated, veterans fear.

No replacements are lined up for the existing ageing fleet of Hawk T1s, scheduled to be retired in 2030.

Ex-RAF pilots fear the high number of hours flown, uncovered by MailOnline's probe, will force them to be stood down earlier unless they are preserved.

For fans, this could result in very limited displays, with little aerobatics to expand the lifespan of the jets.

A former RAF fast-jet pilot told MailOnline: 'If they don't get new aircraft, the Reds are finished.'

Ex-Squadron Leader Tim Davies told MailOnline: 'The pilots and engineers are doing their best.

'If they are ordered to keep the aircraft flying, they will as long as it is safe to do so.

'The military are experts at managing their fleets. Each jet has a maximum service life and they know how to maximise this… but if they do not get new aircraft, the Reds are finished.

'You can reduce the demands on the aircraft by reducing the level of training and by flying less dynamic displays which reduces the G-count.'

Mr Davies, who worked with Aeralis on its next-generation trainer jet after his 14-year RAF career, said there is no British-made jet available to replace the ageing fleet of T1 Hawks.

He said the engines on the Hawk T2 'keep blowing up' and as a heavier aircraft they are not suited to the Red Arrows.
