Training 1,000+ Farmers in Poultry Farming Transformed Paul's Business Journey

Paul is a coffee farmer from Mukono District in Central Uganda, raised in a family deeply rooted in coffee farming. Alongside coffee, he is an experienced poultry farmer, specializing in indigenous breeds. Over the past five years, Paul has shared his expertise in poultry farming with more than 1,000 smallholder youth coffee farmers across Uganda through the Ujana Coffee Project, where he serves as a Sawa World Solution Entrepreneur.

In this video, Paul reflects on his journey with the Ujana Coffee Project and highlights the impact it has had on his livelihood, his poultry enterprise, and his coffee farming business.

The Lavazza Foundation in partnership with Sawa World started the Ujana Coffee Project as a solution to diversify and increase the income of youth from smallholder coffee farms.

The project takes a unique approach by providing access to locally-created and easy-to-start income skills that allow the youth to rapidly start small-scale businesses and with little startup costs. This provides additional revenue from their farming activities and motivates them to stay in the agricultural sector for the long-term.
