II. Dell Latittude D520, SSD and Linux

This is the second in a series of videos in which I will be trying to give old laptops a new lease on life... keeping them out of the clutches of "recyclers".

This is the work on a Dell PP17L (D520),
I will follow this with a video showing this laptop in use, using Zorin.

The next one will concern a greater challenge: Toshiba 1805-s203
The following will include
Gateway 4525gx (m320)
Dell PP02X Inspiron 8600
Which order is to be determined.

Why this series:
I consider reducing e-waste to be a moral imperative.
You can debate with others, of what sort of imperative. :)

Thus, I am seeking to keep these laptops out of the "recycling" system.
They range in age between 15 and 20 years, and I think each may still have years of quite serviceable life in them. I am, therefore, rehabbing them with Linux and a few small hardware upgrades.

Footnote:
I had mentioned the moral philosophy of Immanuel Kant.
The Key Concepts are: Categorical Imperatives, and Hypothetical Imperative. I summarized the former as
"I should live in such a way that I could wish that everyone else would live the same way."

More formally it is summarized:
"Act only according to that maxim whereby you can, at the same time, will that it should become a universal law."
