The night before, Pre had run the equivalent of a 3:57 mile in the 1,500‐meter run.
“I think if I hadn't run last night, I would have had a shot at the world record,” Pre said of Kipchoge Keino's 7:39.6, the world record at that time. “I feel really strong and the crowd felt like home.”
