The Purple Hayseeds (Cobblestone, Jenny Baxley Lee, Sarah Hinds and Chuck Levy) serve up a tantalizing stew of Americana music deeply rooted in old-time, bluegrass, traditional folk, and more modern acoustic influences. Compelling two and three-part vocal harmonies center the Hayseeds’ sound, fortified by solid rhythmic accompaniment and intricate melodies delivered on the tenor guitar, 6-strng guitar, mandolin, fiddle and banjo. The typical Hayseeds set includes obscure traditional songs, well-chosen ballads, and original music that tell stories of love, hard luck, bad behavior, conspiracy, longing, and sometimes trains.
The Stephen Foster Old-Time Music Weekend is an annual event that takes place the second full weekend in September at The Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park White Springs, FL. We offer classes concerts, workshops, one-on-one tutorials, jams, good fellowship, a little mayhem, with a high likelihood of fun.
