CWMBRAN PARKRUN Event #350 - My BEST TIME Since Injury!

CWMBRAN PARKRUN! A great parkrun located in South Wales around Cwmbran Boating Lake and surrounding areas! This flat parkrun utilises multiple different terrains including grass, wood chippings and tarmac paths and is a stunning parkrun, especially in the sun! Join me as I provide an in-depth review of the Cwmbran Parkrun experience.

The course starts outside the Boating Lake cafe, completes a lap of the lake on a tarmac path and after crossing the stream into the Southfields turns left onto the field, which it crosses before going under the subway onto chippings and then back onto a tarmac path alongside the river to the Northfields before turning and retracing the previous route back to the start. The whole route is flat and run on a combination of tarmac, grass and chippings. The area near the subway can flood and become unusable in bad weather in which case an alternative all tarmac route may be used, which involves laps of the lake and twice out and back to the Southfields car park.

Dogs are unfortunately not allowed at Cwmbran parkrun, however, buggies and prams are allowed. There are toilets near to the start at the cafe on the Boating Lake. As the route is on a mixture of different terrains, I would definitely recommend trail shoes. In the winter months when the ground is hard, road shoes may be OK. In terms of how busy the parkrun is, it has an average number of participants of around 181. At the start there is a bottleneck, however, as you get into the run there is plenty of space for overtaking to get to your pace. With it being a flat parkrun, it does have the potential for a PB!

The weather beautiful on the day and the sun was out. The atmosphere was great and there were some great volunteers to keep you going! This is the 42nd parkrun I have recorded on the channel of which you can find a playlist of them on my channel!
