God Brings humanity back in Christmas
Dear Friends in Christ, St. Irenaeus, the great second-century theologian, could express the essence of Christianity with the pithy adage “the glory of God is a human being fully alive!” this connects so much of our great festival of birth of our Saviour for which that we are gathered at our church today. In Christmas we see “God became human, that humans might become like God.” God’s entry into our humanity, even to the point of personal union and to the greatest possible affirmation and elevation of the human. The journey that God decided to make to the world intentionally is to bring back the humanity in the world.
Today the great day for each one of us who are gathered at our Christmas celebration, our churches are decorated and our homes are lighted with starts and hanged decorations, our streets are brightened at the night ..... new born baby Jesus. An awaited messiah has come and peace to this world be gifted by the birth of Jesus. we witness today what the people of Israel waited for 2000 years and we for each year to get a beautiful arrival of Jesus. And this also we are lucky to celebrate our Lord’s birth day. Happy birthday to our king of peace
On this day we are invited to look at the message of Christmas driving from all the readings and the preparation that we have seen and heard. God Brings humanity back. The purpose of God to bring his only son is to give back to the world what was lost. There are so many things are lost in the world but according to me I feel the humanity is lost in the world by looking at the world’s situations. We face lots of violence, wars, division and enmity against nations, ego, self-centred life, lonely life and self-righteousness, rape, murder, theft, covertness and jealousy. All these are very much present in our society. But do we know? When God Created the world ..... Human being is image of God (ps 139) and Human beings are the representatives of God in heaven but as time passed, the sin came to existence in the life of humanity and from that time on wards human beings went away from the way of the Lord and time and again God intervenes through various ...We see in the letters to Hebrew, ‘In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. That is the Christmas we are celebrating today. Mother Mary and all those who involved for the birth of Jesus in the crib ... His own.
In other words, Jesus was always God through eternity past, and he will always be God. During his 33 or so years on earth, he took on a temporary ..childhood, and adolescence, and culminated in his ministry, death, and resurrection. During that period, he was able to be fully human while still being God. All these He has done to bring in us the humanity back. In our celebration of Christmas, we not only rejoice in God tenting with us in human form but as followers of Christ we too are invited out of our comfortable abodes to pitch our tent with the most vulnerable and needy in our communities, while resting always in our one permanent home: the bosom of the Holy One.
People like to say when they make mistakes, “Well, I’m only human!” .....But..... The problem is that we’re less than human, that we’ve lost our humanity. Ever since the fall into sin, we’ve become a shadow of what we were created to be–still in the image of God, but now the image is broken, like a cracked mirror. What we actually .....
We need to do concrete way of showing our human qualities to all the people which were lost. God took greatest step to come down from his divinity born like us and died like us. He wants us to today to offer him a place in our life not denying his coming saying no place in our inn. God chose the simple town Bethlehem, poor parents Joseph and Mary, simple people Shepherds, innocent and mild animals to be born as human. Today He chose us and our hearts to be born for the rejected, those on the margins, the misled youth, the abandoned and abused children, the sick and the sufferings, the broken hearted and all those who lost their faith. He chose us today to be the channels of humanity and the salvation of all. We are the persons to be like the star and angels to lead others to see Jesus in their life.
What you’re looking at when you see the baby in the manger, you are seeing your life restored to God. You are seeing peace and reconciliation between God and man. Let us take the good news of the Christmas that we may live like the real human fully alive, loving, merciful, meek, peaceful, understanding, forgiving, accepting, and being the image and likeness of God. Let us love others like Jesus loved and save the humanity from all dangers that destroy human society. May we allow Jesus to be born in our hearts and may the birth of Jesus mould us to be human.
