Issue-driven: Kazuto Ataka at TEDxUTokyo

Dr. Kazuto Ataka is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Yahoo Japan since 2008. After working for McKinsey & Company, he entered Yale University Graduate School. Right after receiving PhD degree in Neuroscience there, he returned to McKinsey & Company and worked for 10 years in product development in the Asia-Pacific Region. He successfully re-established wide-ranging brands such as beverage, retail, and high-tech products.
From his experiences and background in neuroscience and marketing, he wrote the book "Issue-driven" on the concept of intellectual production.

　McKinsey & Companyに入社した4年半後、イェール大学脳神経科学プログラムに入学。3年9ヶ月で学位取得した後、同社に復帰。10年以上に渡り消費者マーケティングに従事し、­アジア太平洋地域において、飲料・小売り・ハイテクなど幅広い分野でのブランドの立て直し、商品・事業開発に関わる。2008年秋よりヤフー株式会社COO室室長として様­々な経営課題のみならず新たな顧客視点でのサービスの創出に携わり、12年春より現職となる。脳科学×戦略コンサル×ヤフーのキャリアから、知的生産の全体観を描いた「イ­シューからはじめよ」を執筆。
　生産性が高い人というのは、仕事をする速度が人より何十倍も速いのではなく、問題を解く際に、まず意味のある問題かどうかを吟味した上で解を出していく。サイエンスとビジ­ネスの経験から、最終的により質の高い知的生産を行う為に何が必要であるかを議論する。
