In this talk, we are joined by Dr Rana Hasan, Regional Lead Economist for South Asia in the Asian Development Bank’s Economic Research and Development Impact Department, to share insights on ‘Harnessing the Economic Potential of Cities’.
The talk examines how urban areas can more fully realise their role as engines of growth and employment. While Indian cities already attract substantial investment and talent, there is scope to expand their contribution. The discussion sheds light on better alignment of economic, urban, and transport planning at the city-level; more efficient urban land markets; and deeper university–industry linkages, which can unlock greater productivity, innovation, and opportunity in India’s cities.
