GDW Europa: 1938 Czech Invasion [WW2 Battle 1 (2-player)]

Whether it's GDW Europa, GRD Europa, or HMS Europa (EVEN HMSGRD Europa!), it's a classic that is still all you need in 2025. There is no question that wargamers today can still rely on Europa war games to keep you excited about making your next turn.

I finally found someone close enough to come by and play regularly with me face-to-face. Sadly, that isn't easy these days. Everyone seems to always suggest Vassal to me, so I feel blessed to have made a new friend that wants to play regularly.

This video is the second game we played of the beginning of World War Two in Europe. Germany attacks Czechoslovakia in October of 1938. The scenario is for four turns, but only the first one or two are clear weather. The scenario ends when the starting weather rolls mud. May be only two turns.

The British (Neville Chamberlain mainly) and French governments said they'd go war with Germany and stand up to Hitler if they attacked. Even Stalin said he would send Soviet troops. Nobody did though, and Poland was next. Of course the US were isolationist at that time, so nobody really expected America to get involved.

My opponent and I hope to play Europa as a series through WW2 using the Wavell's War rules & charts (unless Storm Over Scandinavia is needed for Arctic weather). This scenario uses counters from Europa - Case White, and Europa - Fall of France. The Europa: Nuts and Bolts article defines all the order of battle requirements and changes to any special rules if necessary. It's a fantastic wargame that should be played by more people.
